Our Beginnings
Gary’s grandparents always made their own sausages.
So we bought all the equipment to make and smoke our own sausage and would do up a couple of big batches a year, I thought maybe my friends would like to make sausage with us so we hosted a few sausage making events and our guests had a blast! Guests enjoyed learning to make fresh Breakfast & Dinner Sausage and got take home an assortment of flavours to suit their family’s tastes and any specific food requirements that are important to them (Sorry we no longer offer private sausage classes at this time).
We offered all of the excess product to those that weren’t able to attend and boom “The Sausage lady” was born. Today we now offer over 30 different varieties of Breakfast & Dinner sausages with an incredible selection of Smoked Meats including Pepperonis, Smokies and Landjaeger. This includes all kinds of Preserves and Frozen meals inspired by traditional foods we shared with our families growing up.
In 2013
We had a visit from our family from Ontario and they brought us some Hardneck Garlic that they had grown, I was blown away at how juicy and full of flavour this garlic was compared to what I was used to buying from the grocery store. We ate it all and the following year asked for some more. To our surprise, he said, “why don’t you plant some?” How could I not have known we could grow such amazing Garlic here in Canada!! Or better yet Alberta!! We had planned for big gardens already so with 300 cloves of Porcelains, Purple Stripes, Rocamboles we began, little did we know it would become a passion for our family and today with 25 different varieties there is no way we can eat it all and love to share the great tastes with our friends, family and community.
With all that going on and 3 growing kids, we thought to ourselves “why stop here?”, while I drove the tractor and Gary pounded post the corals and pasture fences were built, and shortly after some incredible Purebred Black Angus cows arrived. Of course every lady needs a coop full of ladies so we had to get chickens, and what goes better with eggs but bacon! With incredible marbling and flavour, we decided on Purebred Berkshire Pigs! A perfect trifecta and “Single Batch Farms” is in full swing.
From there the evolution of products has just grown.
If we eat it, we pride ourselves on growing it!
We love to share our products and various offerings with all our customers. From our family to yours, please enjoy your journey through our website viewing all that we offer! We would be proud to be a part of your family’s supper tonight.
